Runkang Liu is an MSCA Doctoral Network doctoral researcher in the Lam Research Group.
He completed his studies at the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR), France, gaining research experience through several academic and industrial placements.
In 2022, he worked as an analytical technician during a short internship at Solvay in La Rochelle. In 2023, he spent four months in Professor Pablo Rivera-Fuentes’ group at the University of Zurich, developing fluorescent probes.
During a gap year in 2024, he joined Janssen Pharmaceutica (Johnson & Johnson) in Beerse as an intern, synthesising biologically active compounds for preclinical research, with a particular focus on complex macrocycles.
Before beginning his doctoral research at Greenwich, he contributed to flow-chemistry research in the Noël Research Group at the University of Amsterdam. His 2026 work included a photo-flow carbonylation that converts free alcohols into δ-lactones using carbon monoxide under continuous-flow conditions.
