PhD and MPhil study

For advertised studentships, follow the application route and deadline in the advert. For self-funded or externally funded study, contact us to discuss your research idea before making a formal application.

Funding for doctoral study

FindAPhD lists funded and self-funded projects. External scholarships may also be available through your home-country government, research council, employer or university. Check eligibility and deadlines with the funder.

UKRI studentships must be attached to, or formally hosted by, the University.

Postdoctoral research

Apply for advertised posts through the University’s recruitment process. If you are considering an independent fellowship, contact us early to discuss your project and the group’s suitability as a host.

Include your proposed scheme, eligibility, project outline and deadline in your enquiry. Allow time for proposal development and any institutional approval or internal selection. Check each funder’s current host requirements.

Visiting researchers

Doctoral researchers interested in a visit should propose a defined project that complements our current work. Tell us your home institution, supervisor, proposed visit dates, funding and required facilities.

Your home institution remains responsible for its approvals and funding unless agreed otherwise.

Working in the group

Our projects combine synthetic electrochemistry with organic synthesis, electroanalysis, reaction-mechanism studies and flow processing. Training is tailored to your project and career stage, including scientific writing, presentation and collaboration. We aim for a supportive laboratory where careful experiments, reliable records and open, respectful discussion are part of everyday research.
