John Burnett received an MSc in Chemistry and Physics from the University of St Andrews in 2022. His final-year project examined the reactivity and bonding of peri-substituted aromatic compounds.
His doctoral research develops electrochemical fluorination methods from practical amine-derived precursors. His work includes electrochemical access to carbamoyl fluorides and a divergent method for preparing thiocarbamoyl fluorides or N-trifluoromethyl amines from secondary amines.
