Privacy Notice
How information is handled when you contact the group, sign in, or visit this website.
Who is responsible for the website
This website is operated by Professor Kevin Lam for the Lam Research Group, Laboratory of Synthetic Electrochemistry, University of Greenwich. It is independently hosted on WordPress infrastructure provided through Hostinger and is not the University’s main website.
Data controller and data-protection contact
Enquiries submitted for University research, recruitment or collaboration activity are handled through University systems. The University’s Information Compliance team should confirm the applicable controller arrangement for this independently hosted form before the site moves to its final domain. Questions about University data protection can be sent to compliance@gre.ac.uk; see the University privacy information.
Information collected
The contact form collects your name, email address, organisation, enquiry type, subject and message. Member accounts may contain an account name, email address, role, password hash and security information. Hosting and security systems may process an IP address, browser information, requested pages, timestamps and error or security events.
Purpose and lawful basis
Contact information is used to read, route and respond to an enquiry and, where a discussion continues, to manage the resulting research, recruitment, facilities or collaboration correspondence. Depending on the enquiry, processing may support the University’s public tasks, legitimate interests in research communication, or steps requested before an agreement. The University’s Information Compliance team should confirm the final lawful-basis wording.
Recipients and service providers
Information may be processed by Hostinger and the website’s mail service, then delivered to Professor Lam’s University email account. It may be shared within the University with colleagues responsible for the relevant enquiry. The group does not sell contact information. External websites linked from this site have their own privacy notices.
International processing
Hosting and service providers may process information in more than one country under their applicable contractual and legal safeguards. Contact-form correspondence is also processed through University email and information systems.
Retention
The website is configured not to retain a separate archive of contact-form submissions. However, hosting, mail and security systems may retain technical logs or message copies according to their configured retention periods. Email correspondence is retained under the University’s applicable records requirements. Member-account information is retained while access is required and should be reviewed when a member leaves.
Individual rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, restrict or erase personal information, to object to processing, or to receive information in a portable form. Use the contact form or contact the University’s Information Compliance team. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Security
The site uses HTTPS, authenticated mail delivery, form validation, a hidden anti-spam field and submission rate limiting. Member passwords are stored by WordPress as password hashes. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so do not submit confidential structures, unpublished results, identity documents or other sensitive information through the public form.
Photographs and biographies
Current and former members can ask for a photograph, biography or profile detail to be corrected or removed. Requests should identify the page and requested change.
Changes to this notice
This notice will be revised when the form, hosting, service providers or applicable University guidance changes. Material changes will be published on this page.
