Jamie got his
undergraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, obtaining a BA
degree in Medicinal Chemistry. His final year research project was inorganic
based and focused on molybdenum-based catalysts for allylic
trifluoromethylation.
Jamie has now decided to further his
interest in chemistry research and broaden his knowledge by pursuing a PhD at
the University of Greenwich in electrochemistry. He hopes to develop
new photo-electrochemical batch and flow methods to electro-generate and
photo-decompose diazo compounds in-situ to produce carbenes, minimising the
risks by keeping their concentration virtually close to zero during the
process.
An interesting fact about Jamie is that he
is a world-renowned Irish dancer!
